6. Work Experience

There is no substitute for being in a workplace to understand the experience. Students can develop the skills needed to succeed in employment but also socially.

Work experience is crucial in allowing young people to gain experiences of a workplace and what it involves. It gives students an opportunity to work and develop transferable skills in a professional environment. Students learn to network with adults, take responsibility for their own actions and develop a sense of independence. It also gives students an opportunity to reflect on what they have achieved and how they may wish to pursue their own careers in the future.

Virtual Work Experience

Mrs Soulsby will include opportunities to participate in virtual work experience opportunities as they arise. Parents and students are often informed via email and text with links posted on the website too. In the ‘Careers Guide @ ÁùºÏ²ÊÂÛ̳’ magazine, there will always be virtual work experience opportunities publicised. These virtual work experiences are for students to extend their careers understanding beyond the classroom and within fields that often, work experience is particularly challenging to secure (such as in areas like Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary for example). Virtual work experience opportunities provide brilliant insights into some fascinating career paths.
